Author’s Note:
I needed some fluffy twins. And this has been on my mind for a bit. Reader-chan is female, who had her parents pass away last year. She is putting herself through college and struggling. So the twins dad, offers to take care of her, she refused. So he offered her to be a live in maid, because he was close friends with her father. She accepts only because she hasn’t been able to find a job that works with her going to college. That’s all I had in my mind and thus this was born. I also wanted this to be a bit shorter, so sorry if it seems rushed at all.

Also, this a entry for Words-Of-Fate 500 watcher contest. She’s an amazing writing and a sweet person. Go check her out and if you like her stuff, watch her. She’s on my favorites writer list, on my page, for a reason.

Hikaru sighed he walked into his room but paused as he saw a maid stripping his bed.
“What are you doing?” Hikaru asked because this was usually done in the mornings, not the afternoon after they got home.
She clearly flinched before turning and bowing. “Excuse me, Mr. Hitachiin, I was just instructed to this now.”
“Wait, are you are you new?” Hikaru approached her, circling her a bit. “You’re a bit young to be a maid. Why are you here?” He decided to tease this new employee a bit.
“Oh, Sir Hitachiin, your dad, knew my parents and offered me a job here while I am in college.”
He eyed her for a bit, her gaze was focused on the floor. She probably just graduated high school based on her looks. So she’s a few years older than him and Kaoru.
“If you’d like, I can come back later to finish your bedding, or leave it until morning, Mr. Hitachiin.”
“Nah, I don't care, you can do it now. Also, call me Hikaru, the whole Mr thing is boring.”
“Oh, okay.” She gave him a shy smile, which only made his heart pound. “Okay, Hikaru.”
’She's kind of different, shy but nice and somehow easy to talk to.’
Hikaru talked to her a bit as she finished taking all the sheets off his bed and changing them. He held the door open for her as she walked down the hallway, holding his blankets. A few moments after she was out of sight, he noticed Kaoru walking towards his room.
“What are you doing out here?” Kaoru asked before hanging on Hikaru.
“We have a new maid, father hired her because he knows her parents. She was changing my sheets and she just walked off with the blankets.”
“Oh, so we have a new toy.”
“Oh yes, and she’s kind of cute too.”
“When she comes back, you should hide, so we can play.” The twins giggled to themselves before going into Kaoru’s room.

“Hikaru?” ___ knocked on the door, she listened for a moment, before he finally opened the door.
“Come on in.” He gave her a small smirk before stepping back, to let her in.
She stared at him for a moment, hesitating. Something was off. She gave him a wry smile before walking in and to his bed, to start spreading the blankets and pillows correctly.
Hikaru stood very close behind her, making her stop and turned to face him. He was much closer than she thought and she took a step back, making her knees brush against the mattress.
“Mr. Hitachiin?” Her voice was quiet, scared it would show her surprise.
“I told you it’s Hikaru.” He stepped a bit closer to her.
“Oh, um. Aren’t you too close to me? Please step away. I need to finish this.” She rambled out to him.
“I just wanted to watch you.”
   “Why?”
   “Because you’re interesting.”
“Something’s off about you. I’m not comfortable, please take a few steps back and watch from there.”
“What’s wrong with me?” He gave her a small pout.
“Oh! Nothing. You just don’t seem the same from when I gathered your blankets.” She gave him a nervous grin. “Sorry, I’m probably not making any sense. But um, I don’t really like being too close to people. I like my personal space, please.” She quickly turned away and finished making the bed. “Goodnight, Mr. Hitachiin.” She quickly exited the room.
“I guess she didn’t fall for it.” Kaoru mumbled as Hikaru stepped out of the closet. “I wonder if she’ll be able to tell us apart like Haruhi.”
“Don’t get your hopes up.” Hikaru scoffed, before letting his face fall and hugging Kaoru.

A few weeks with Hikaru and Kaoru had gone by. They never let ___ see them together. She would only call Hikaru by his name but would call Kaoru, Mr. Hitachiin. She never fell for any of Kaoru's tricks or teasings. She could sense the difference between Kaoru and Hikaru but was starting to think she was crazy. Because who she assumed as one person, seemed to have a split aura and personality almost every other time after seeing him from earlier.
___ would always make it so they couldn't touch her, she would always move away or excuse herself to do other chores.

___ was humming while folding clothes.
   “You seem happy.”
She jumped at the voice and quickly turned around, dropping the towel she was folding.
“Oh, Mr. Hitachiin, I’m sorry, was my humming distracting?” She knelt to ground to pick up the towel.
“No, not at all.” Kaoru leaned against the table where the baskets were. “Do you hum a lot?”
“Yeah, I like to. It’s something to make time pass faster.” Kaoru looked around, paused when he saw books open and notebooks at the end of the table. ___ followed his gaze. “Oh, I was doing some homework and studying while waiting on the dryer.”
“What are you studying?” Kaoru walked over and turned a book to him. “Math?”
“Yeah it’s a core class, I’m not very good at it. So I take more time on it. Your dad said I could study in my down time while I work. It’s the main reason I took the job, that and to put myself through school. Your dad knew my parents very well.”
“Why are you using past tense?”
“Oh, they passed away last year right before my graduation. Your dad and my dad were childhood friends. I never met him until last year, though. He promised to support me until insurances came through and until I could stabilize myself. I haven’t been able to find a job that works around my school until Mr. Hitachiin offered for me to stay here.”
“Wait, stay here? You are live in maid?” Kaoru was a bit shocked by that. Especially he and Hikaru, never even noticed.
“Yeah, I refused at first, but he reminded then I could pay more towards school. And he told me about how close him and my father were. If I would have met him before they died, I have a feeling he would be much less of a stranger. I don’t know why my parents never let me met him, but I did find pictures of them together.” She rambled while staring at her notebook, playing with the spiral a bit. “Oh, sorry. I ramble sometimes. I should finish folding the laundry. Have a good day, Mr. Hitachiin.”
Kaoru groaned. “I told you, it’s Hikaru.”
She glared at him, which only made him smirk. “You’re not Hikaru, though! Don’t make me feel crazy. You are nothing like you were before. You are way too confident. I don’t understand what is going on.”
“You’re just crazy. I’m Hikaru.” He gave her a sly grin.
“No, no, no. Just go away. I don’t believe you.” She calmly turned her back on him and went back to her folding.
Hikaru walked in from the hall and Kaoru looked at him.
“Alright, you win.” They said in unison.
___ spun around and stared at them for a moment. She turned her head to the side, confused for a moment. “Hikaru?” She asked.
“Yes?” They teased her in unison again.
She glared at them both for a moment before sighing. “Go away then. I know there are two of you, I know which is Hikaru, so I’m fine.” She turned back to her chore.
“How can you tell us apart?”
“I can’t.” She didn’t back to face them.
“But you can tell when one of us isn’t Hikaru.”
“When you’re together, it’s harder, I can’t tell at all. When you’re separate, I guess I just sense who is who.”
Kaoru and Hikaru stared at each for a moment before walking over to her. Hikaru stood to her right and Kaoru stood to her left.
“Can you tell now?” They asked while hugging her from both sides.
She jumped a bit and tried pushing them off.
“No, I’m more confused now. Please, get off me! I don’t like this.”
“We’ll let go if you can tell us who is Kaoru and who is Hikaru.”
She looked back and forth at them, they were a bit taller than her, so they were a bit intimidating this close and smirking down at her
“So the one who's been telling me I am crazy is Kaoru.”
“Yes. But which one am I?” They hugged her tighter, pushing themselves in front of her, so they all stood in a small triangle, to block her from the baskets.
___ stared at them both for a moment before closing her eyes, trying to sense who was who. “I can’t tell. I’m too tense because you’re touching me. Please. I don’t like being hugged and touched.”
   “Why?”
“Please, I don’t trust people.” She stared at them.
“Trust us.” They demanded more than asked. Hikaru leaned his head against Kaoru’s.
Something about their faces was pleading. They wanted her to be close to them, to know who was who. She could sense this. “Why do you want me to know who is who so badly?”
They blinked at her questioned, not expecting it. They glanced at each other before nodding at each other. Asking and answering one another in silence.
“Because we like you, which is rare.” Hikaru stated
“We want you like us.” Kaoru whispered, a bit embarrassed to admit it.
“You can only do that if you can tell us apart.”
“We aren’t one, but two people.”
“Well, I know that, now. To like you, I would have to get to know you. When you are not together and when you are together, you are still two different people. I don’t know you well enough to tell your difference right now, though. I can guess now, but if I am wrong. Will you let me learn who is who?” ___ kept glancing back and forth at their faces, trying to make sure she was clear about why she couldn’t do it correctly now.
“Only if you promise to stay around long enough to learn.” They leaned their foreheads against her temples.
She leaned back a bit, away from them, still uncomfortable with them touching her. She’ll have to get used to sooner or later, though because they showed no signs of respecting her personal space.
“I promise.” She gave them a shy smile, while still trying to lean away from them more.
   “Guess.”
She looked at the twin on her left. “Hikaru?” She was very hesitant on this, but she just couldn’t tell right now.
“Nope.” They gave her a small smile.
“But you promised to learn, so it’ll be okay for now.” Kaoru gave her a sweet smile.
“Thanks, Kaoru.” She gave him a small smile back. “Can you let go of me now? I really need to finish my chores.”
   “But you didn’t guess correctly.”
“Plus, you should trust us. So you’re stuck here with hugging us.”
“Well, I’m not hugging you. You guys are hanging on me.”
“We plan to keep hanging on to you, so get used to it.”
Although she was a bit unwilling, they pulled her closer. Hugging her tightly and resting their cheeks on her head.
So I can't tell if I like this or not, but I like it more than some of my recent fanfics...
